Calling all cooks!

 

Are your Turkey or Ribs the best in town? Join our cookoff
and help raise money for Brain Cancer Research.

Prizes will be awarded.

 

Cookoff Rules:


What you need:

  • Bring enough ribs or turkey to allow for taste testing. Bite size portion for approximately 200 people.
  • Non-Electric grills with drip pans, deep fryer or smoker.
  • All supplies needed to cook and serve BBQ ribs or turkey, no utensils provided
  • Small plates and toothpicks for taste testing will be provided.
  • Booth decorated to represent your team or theme. (Prize awarded for the
    best decorated booth)
  • One 8' table and 2 folding chairs will be provided.
  • Water provided in Park Pavilion.
  • No refrigeration is available at the park.

Cook-off Rules:

  • Check-in after 7:30 am. Please allow plenty of time to have your ribs of
    turkey ready by 1:00 pm.
  • Ribs or turkey must be cooked on site. No pre-cooking or marinating allowed.
  • Cooks are to prepare and cook meat in a sanitary manner. All state and local regulations for safe food handling must be followed during preparation and distribution of samples.
  • Each team will have a 15' wide cooking area and must be kept tidy at all times. Booth area
    will be assigned.
  • It will be the responsibility of each team to clean up their cooking site at the end of the event. Trash receptacles will be provided.

Judging:

  • Winners will be announced at approximately 2:30 pm. on the stage.
  • 100% of donations collected will benefit Brain Cancer Research.
  • Team Choice Award. The team that raises the most money prior to and the
    day of the event wins. You have until 2:00 pm. to raise funds in your jar.
  • Award for the best decorated booth.
  • Judges Choice – Best tasting ribs or turkey. Taste testing begins at 1:00 pm. promptly.

Deadline:

Registration forms must be received by FRIDAY, MAY 21 st. 2010.
Registration limited to the first 12 teams to sign up.

for the team that raised the most money: Minnesota Milk Producers Association - The team members were
Bob Lefebvre, executive director, and his wife Becky who is a brain cancer survivor along with many of Becky’s family members. Lois Pahl, Office Administrator, and her husband Bob.


Best Ribs:

Best Turkey:

Minnesota Turkey Growers Association’s - team of Turkey, the original T-Bird. Steve Olson, executive director, his wife Becky and their son. Theresa Neddermayer, Promotions & Member Services Coordinator and her husband Rich. Rahn Annis, President of the MTGA was also there.
